Description

RIX Optics STORM S6R V2 Thermal Scope

640×512, 35mm, 2.5×, 2187-Yard LRF

(2.5 – 10× Magnification & 1,969 Yards of Detection)

The RIX Optics STORM S6R V2 Thermal Scope brings a major second-generation upgrade to RIX’s compact STORM platform. Built around a 640×512 VOx thermal sensor with 12 μm pixel pitch and <15 mK NETD, the S6R V2 combines high-sensitivity thermal imaging with a 35mm F1.0 objective lens, 2.5× base magnification, 50 Hz refresh rate, 1,969-yard detection range, and built-in 2,187-yard laser rangefinder. The result is a compact 640 thermal riflescope designed to deliver excellent image detail, precise ranging, and long-range capability without the size and weight of a traditional full-size thermal optic.

RIX redesigned the STORM V2 around improved image quality, precision and field usability. Compared with the previous STORM generation, the S6R V2 receives a new thermal detector, improved <15 mK sensitivity, a larger 0.49-inch 1920×1080 AMOLED display, a redesigned eyepiece, longer 52mm eye relief, upgraded laser rangefinder and a revised mounting system. The live RIX product page also confirms the upgraded display, longer-range LRF and improved bolt-action compatibility.

RIX Optics STORM S6R V2 Features:

640×512 Thermal Sensor with <15 mK NETD

At the center of the RIX STORM S6R V2 is a 640×512 resolution, 12 μm VOx uncooled thermal detector operating at 50 Hz. Its NETD rating of less than 15 mK allows the sensor to resolve smaller temperature differences, helping produce greater thermal definition and improved target recognition when environmental conditions make thermal contrast more difficult to distinguish.

RIX combines the new detector with its RET image-enhancement technology to improve thermal clarity and fine detail. According to RIX, the V2’s new-generation detector and updated imaging system provide finer thermal detail and clearer target definition than the previous STORM generation.

35mm F1.0 Lens, 2.5× Base Magnification & 1,969-Yard Detection

The S6R V2 pairs its 640-resolution sensor with a 35mm F1.0 germanium objective lens and 2.5× native optical magnification. Digital magnification extends from 1× to 4×, giving the scope the flexibility to maintain a useful field of view while providing additional magnification when a closer look is required.

Its field of view measures 12.5° × 7.7°, or approximately 21.9 × 13.5 yards at 100 yards, while RIX rates the thermal detection range at up to 1,800 meters / 1,969 yards. The S6R V2 therefore combines a relatively wide viewing area with the resolution and base magnification expected from a 640-class thermal riflescope.

Built-In 2,187-Yard Laser Rangefinder

One of the biggest STORM S6R V2 upgrades is its integrated 2,000-meter / 2,187-yard laser rangefinder. RIX rates measurement accuracy at approximately ±1 meter / ±1.09 yards and says the updated rangefinder incorporates enhanced sensitivity along with rain- and fog-optimized algorithms for more reliable ranging in challenging conditions.

The original STORM rangefinder was rated to 1,312 yards. For the V2, RIX increased the maximum range to 2,187 yards, giving the S6R V2 considerably more ranging capability for observation and long-range use.

Built-In Ballistic Calculator with 5 Zeroing Profiles

The RIX STORM S6R V2 does more than simply provide a distance reading. Its built-in ballistic calculation system can use shooting parameters to calculate trajectory information and provide aiming guidance. The S6R V2 supports five zeroing profiles, allowing multiple rifle or ammunition configurations to be stored within the optic.

RIX also incorporates Freeze Zeroing, allowing the image to be frozen after a shot while the reticle is moved to the actual point of impact. This simplifies the process of correcting the zero without forcing the shooter to maintain the exact same point of aim while making adjustments.

Fine Reticle & Precise 0.43 MOA/Click Adjustment

The S6R V2 uses a finer aiming reticle designed to cover less of the target image. RIX currently specifies 0.43 MOA per click adjustment on the S6R V2, providing finer zeroing control for precise reticle placement.

The STORM V2 also includes nine reticle styles and multiple reticle color choices. Through the RIX+ App, compatible reticle and laser-rangefinder settings can be further customized to suit individual viewing and aiming preferences.

1920×1080 AMOLED Display & Redesigned Eyepiece

Thermal sensor resolution is only part of the image-quality equation. RIX upgraded the STORM V2 to a larger 0.49-inch 1920×1080 AMOLED display, replacing the smaller display used in the previous generation. The redesigned eyepiece and 52mm eye relief are intended to provide a clearer, more comfortable viewing experience with reduced distortion as eye position changes.

The result is a viewing system designed to take better advantage of the S6R V2’s 640×512 thermal sensor while providing improved contrast, detail and comfort during extended use.

Improved Design for AR & Bolt-Action Platforms

RIX specifically redesigned the STORM V2 mounting arrangement for greater versatility across different rifle configurations. The laser rangefinder has been moved from the right side to the left, creating additional clearance around a bolt handle. The included quick-detach Picatinny mount is also raised and extended, providing additional fore-and-aft positioning options and improved compatibility with bolt-action rifles.

RIX describes the STORM V2 as suitable for both AR-style and bolt-action platforms, with the redesigned mounting arrangement intended to improve positioning, clearance and overall ergonomics.

Compact 1.16 lb Thermal Scope & Handheld Monocular

Despite its 640 thermal sensor, integrated rangefinder and ballistic system, the STORM S6R V2 weighs approximately 1.16 lb and measures only about 6.4 × 2.9 × 2.6 inches. RIX designed the STORM V2 to function primarily as a thermal riflescope while also allowing it to be used as a compact handheld thermal monocular for observation.

That two-in-one design gives hunters the ability to scan and observe with the same thermal device that can be mounted to the rifle, reducing the amount of thermal equipment that needs to be carried in the field.

Wi-Fi, RIX+ App, Recording & 64GB Internal Memory

Built-in Wi-Fi connects the STORM S6R V2 to the RIX+ App for Android and iOS. The app supports features including live image streaming, wireless firmware updates and additional device customization.

The S6R V2 can capture both photos and video with audio from its built-in microphone. RIX specifies 1744×1072 photo/video resolution, MP4/JPG formats and 64GB of internal storage, providing plenty of space for saving hunts, range sessions and thermal footage.

Replaceable 18650 Power System

Instead of relying solely on a permanently installed internal battery, the RIX STORM S6R V2 uses a replaceable 18650 rechargeable battery system. RIX rates operating time at approximately 4 hours, and the battery can be quickly replaced in the field when additional runtime is needed. The scope also supports 5V USB Type-C external power.

Two 18650 batteries and a battery charger are included with the S6R V2, giving the system spare power straight out of the box.

IP67 Protection for Real Hunting Conditions

The STORM S6R V2 carries an IP67 environmental protection rating and an operating temperature range of approximately -4°F to +122°F (-20°C to +50°C). RIX also rates the optic for recoil levels up to 1,000 g / 6,000 J, giving the compact aluminum-alloy design the durability required for field use.
